Gold Work - Yay!

Well, when I walked in the door today, what should be sitting on the kitchen table? My Gold Work kit. YAY! Now all I have to do is go out and get a proper set of needles and a hoop and I'm off and running.

Current Mood: Optimistic

Hi Jenn, thanks for linking to my blog!

Goldwork is so beautiful, your horse will be the most fashionable horse ever :-)

If you have time, please tell me more about your goldwork kit: where did you buy it, what type of thread, do you like working with it? I'd really like to know about it, because I'm still looking for gold thread myself

Hi Machteld,

Love your blog. I found it via Gina's blog. The circle of friends grows. :-)

My gold work kit was purchased from Benton and Johnson (http://www.bentonandjohnson.com/)in the UK. They had an inexpensive kit that I could work on to get my feet wet. They also carry threads.

Hi Machteld,

Sorry I missed two specific questions. There are several types of threads in the kit. I bought the Golden Lily kit. It contains the following:

9x7" piece of silk (mine is red)
same size Lining (linen I think)
Imitation Jap T71 36"
Gilt 4 bright check 10"
Gilt No. 4 Smooth Passing 14"
Gilt Check Thread 10"
Gold Kid 1.5" (hide with a gold over it)
Beads 6

I haven' started working with it yet. I haven't had a chance to get my needles and frame yet. Been too busy with other aspects of life.

Gwen, thanks for adding Hedgehog Handworks.
